How to choose music on YouTube without starting a video-browsing session
Choose the track, mix or resource you want before opening YouTube. Treat music playback and browsing for more videos as separate tasks. unScroll can restrict YouTube browser sections such as Shorts and recommendations, but it does not promise background playback or act as a replacement for a dedicated music service.
Define the playback requirement
Decide whether you need a single item, a continuous selection, playback with the screen off or playback while using another app. Those are different requirements. A tool that hides a feed has not thereby verified all of them.
If another music tool already meets the requirement without opening a video feed, it may be the more direct route. Use a social-video browser only if its available behavior fits your chosen task.
Test the chosen route
- Save or note the selected track or resource.
- Open that destination directly instead of beginning with a recommended page.
- If trying unScroll, verify ordinary playback with your section settings.
- Test any screen-off or app-switching behavior you need; do not assume it is supported.
- If the route fails an essential requirement, use a working music route rather than repeatedly reopening the feed.
Evaluate two separate outcomes
First check whether the music task works. Then check whether you stayed with the chosen resource rather than switching into unrelated videos. A restriction can be unsuitable for playback even if it successfully hides a section.
YouTube browser filtering does not establish support for YouTube Music or other music apps. Read current product facts and avoid treating a desired capability as an implemented feature.
