How to set an end to phone browsing before bed

Reviewed:

Choose your last useful phone task and a stopping event before starting evening browsing. Keep alarms and essential communication available. A selective filter can reduce detours into Instagram or YouTube feeds, while the phone’s own bedtime tools may help with a wider routine. This guide does not promise a sleep or health result.

Name what needs to stay available

An alarm, an urgent contact and a recreational feed do not have the same role. Make a list of essentials before choosing restrictions. Do not apply a rule so broad that it makes the phone unusable for something you actually need overnight.

If you choose to watch a video, choose it before browsing and define whether the end of that video ends the session. Turning off autoplay is separate from deciding when you will leave.

Check the whole evening route

  1. Choose a last task, such as answering a conversation or finishing a selected video.
  2. Keep its required sections available and restrict unwanted feeds in your chosen tool.
  3. Check the same service on another device; a browser filter on one phone does not cover a television.
  4. Place the phone where your chosen routine works and confirm the alarm remains usable.
  5. Review whether you ended the session at the chosen event rather than moving to another screen.

What each tool covers

Android documents Bedtime mode in Digital Wellbeing on supported phones; available settings vary by device. Consult the official instructions instead of assuming your phone has every option.

unScroll’s browser filters and schedules concern browsing inside unScroll. They are not an overnight rule for every installed app, and native protection has separate limitations. Select a tool for a browsing boundary, not as a treatment for sleep problems.
