How to start your own project after work when the phone keeps becoming the first activity

Reviewed:

Prepare a project action small enough to start directly: open the file, draft a sentence or test one step. Then name the phone task, if any, that must happen first. If that task repeatedly leads into Instagram or YouTube feeds, unScroll’s browser filters are one way to change the detour, not every reason the project is delayed.

Remove one unclear decision

“Work on my project” can contain several decisions: which file, which task and where to begin. Leave a note with the next concrete action before the session. A selected action makes it possible to review whether you started, rather than only measuring time at a desk.

If you want rest instead, choose rest. This plan is for an evening when you want to make a project step; it does not assume that every evening should be productive.

Design the first few actions

  1. Prepare the project file or materials and write the next action.
  2. List any phone task needed first, such as a reply or a tutorial lookup.
  3. Keep that task available and restrict the unrelated feed where supported.
  4. After the reply or lookup, move directly to the prepared project action.
  5. Finish with a short record of what you made and the next step. If the detour moved elsewhere, note that route.

Evaluate the project step, not a promise

unScroll can be relevant to a social-feed detour while preserving selected useful features. It does not plan the project, establish the cause of delay or guarantee output.

If the obstacle is an unclear task, a missing resource or a need for rest, changing a feed alone may not resolve it. Review what actually happened and use the restriction only for the route it covers.
