Instagram Home, Following and Explore: choose what you actually need

Reviewed:

Define the destination you need before asking to hide “the feed.” A profile search, followed-account activity and recommended browsing are different tasks. In unScroll’s browser you can choose sections; original-app recognition is separate and currently has an unresolved intermittent Instagram Home curtain failure.

Choose a destination, not a blanket label

Write the task as “find this account” or “check updates from accounts I follow.” Then identify the sections you actually visit on your installed Instagram version. Labels and routes may change, so a description of your task is more useful than assuming a fixed interface.

If a search is necessary, test it independently of the recommended grid. Do not assume that blocking a discovery surface must also block every profile lookup, or that keeping a lookup necessarily requires keeping the grid.

Check each route separately

  1. Note whether you are using Instagram inside unScroll or the original app.
  2. Test opening the app, tapping Home, finding an account and returning from a profile.
  3. Record which destination becomes visible and whether the restriction appears.
  4. If a route bypasses the intended restriction, report the sequence and versions rather than labeling all protection as working.

Current native status matters

The current release contains native Home and Explore protection work, but packaging a rule does not establish success on every Instagram version. The known Vivo case opens Home without its curtain with the service connected; tapping Instagram Home restores it in that observation.

The cause is unresolved and the observed recovery is not a universal fix. Browser section controls remain a different route, with their own need to check the tasks you keep. Read the current product limitations before relying on a particular native destination.
